How to Beat Vaati in the Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

After beating the three Darknuts and now armed with bottles of fairies, you're ready to finish the game. Vaati has three stages to drag you through. Defeat Vaati and his creepy plethora of eyes to return Hyrule to its former peaceful state.

Steps

Vaati Reborn

Vaati Reborn is, of course, the easiest stage. All you need is a gust jar, your sword, and quick reflexes.

  1. Have your sword and gust jar on hand.

  2. Avoid the fireballs and kill the two eyes circling him. You can "cut" the fireballs or suck them up with the gust jar if you can't avoid them in time. If you don't kill both eyes fast enough, then use the gust jar to suck the black shrouds off the eye that is sent after you.

  3. Attack the red eye on Vaati that opens up after you kill the two eyes that were encircling him.

  4. Repeat for the four eyes that encircle him afterwards. The best chance you have for killing these eyes is when they stop to shoot lasers; they don't move when they do. Attack the red eye, and repeat this process one or two more times. Soon, the four eyes will have black shrouds that you'll have to suck off with the gust jar first before doing anything else.

    • Use the gust jar immediately after Vaati recovers to get the shrouds off quicker.

  5. Equip your bow as you're transported to the next stage.

Vaati Transfigured

This stage requires some strategic thinking and a lot of patience when it comes to the grueling amount of time this will take.

  1. Take advantage of your surroundings. Vaati will shoot spiky purple rocks at the ground. These are fairly easy to avoid, and breaking them might get you some goodies, like arrows. Break apart all and any rocks surrounding the area where you split apart at, as well as a path around the room so you can escape when Vaati tries to run into you.

  2. Shoot at the blue eyes surrounding Vaati until four open red eyes are revealed.

  3. Split into a formation that matches the formation of the four red eyes. For example, if all four of Vaati's front eyes are open, then go to the back of the glowing tile formation and split off onto the back four. Attack the four eyes using your split forms.

  4. Attack the now-vulnerable eye with all four of you until Vaati recovers. Repeat the process three to four times.

    • Vaati will now have three attacks- the spiky purple rocks, the rocks that drop from the ceiling, and the electric balls.

  5. Get Zelda as soon as you're transported back to the room. Vaati will show up again later.

Vaati's Wrath

Vaati's final stage is a floating eye with two arm-claw things......not the most intimidating boss you've probably ever fought, but it's still annoying.

  1. Stock up on fairies, arrows, bombs, and hearts in the room below before you go to the sanctuary. You'll need them. Equip your Cane of Pacci.

  2. Hit one of Vaati's claws with the Cane when he sticks it into the ground. Watch out for the energy balls along the way!

  3. Shrink down to Minish size by jumping onto the rock. Run into the small hole in the arm. Great, you should be surrounded by many scurrying bugs.

  4. Attack the bug with the red eye on it relentlessly. Don't bother with the others; they'll only die once you kill the bug with the eye.

  5. Repeat the process with the other arm, but you'll need your lantern to do it. When you come back to normal size, Vaati will have two attacks- a multi-energy ball attack, and then his electric balls. The crackling noise means he's going to shoot electric balls in random directions; ignore them.

  6. Split into four and wait for a different noise; that means that he'll fire four energy balls at you. Hit them back using all four of you so Vaati gets hit with his own attack.

  7. Repeat this a few more times before you are victorious.

Tips

  • After splitting and rending Vaati's "main eye" vulnerable, keep your clones with your when you attack. It'll deal more damage.
