EditGalaxy Glaze

  1. Combine the milk and icing sugar in a medium-sized bowl. Stir well with a whisk until properly combined.
  2. Scoop a spoonful of the icing in a separate bowl. Leave the rest of the icing in the bowl. This will be the white icing for the galaxy glaze.

  3. Add 2-3 drops of each food coloring gel into the base. Gently twirl the colors around with a toothpick or kebab skewer, creating color streaks.

    • Take caution not to mix the colors, only swirl them to create the galactic effect for the glaze.
  4. Drizzle the white glaze over the colored glaze. Twirl the colors again gently.

EditTips

  • Consider adding star-shaped and pearl sprinkles in the frosting for a more galactic look.
  • Do note when you scoop the frosting colors in a piping bag, the thinner the food coloring gel is, the lighter the colors will appear in the frosting. [4]
  • For stiff buttercream frosting, replace the butter with shortening. [5]

EditWarnings

  • Avoid using the same spoon used to mix or scoop frosting from another color. The colors will combine together, coming out with gray-like look and won't look like a galaxy.
  • Do not substitute the food coloring gel with liquid food dye. The amount will have to be increased, causing the frosting to come out runny.

EditThings You'll Need

  • Electric mixer (if needed for method)
  • Frosting pipe (if needed for method)
