Chromebook devices lack a port that allows you to plug a printer directly into the computer. To connect a printer to your Chromebook, you must use Google's Cloud Print service to connect wirelessly to a Cloud-enabled printer, or to a conventional printer that is currently plugged into an Internet-connected Windows or Mac computer.
Steps
Connecting to a Cloud-Enabled Printer
- Power on your Cloud-enabled printer.
- Launch a Chrome browser session on your Chromebook.
- Click on the Chrome menu button displayed at the top right corner of Chrome.
- Click on “Settings.”
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click on “Show advanced settings.”
- Navigate to the section entitled, “Google Cloud Print” and click on “Add printers.”
- Sign into your Google account at the prompt.
- Click on “Add printer.” Your Chromebook will detect and add your Cloud-enabled computer to your Google account.
- Navigate to the page or document you want printed.
- Select the option to print from within the document. For example, to print a page from within Chrome, click on “File” and select “Print.” The page or document will then print.[1]
