Microwave condensed milk

  1. Pour the water into a 2-cup glass measuring cup or jug. Add the milk slowly, stirring to combine it properly. Stir until smooth.
  2. Place in the microwave. Microwave on high, uncovered, for 1/2 to 1 minute. Or, heat until the milk is steaming hot.
  3. Remove from the microwave. Stir in the sugar (or Splenda). Keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  4. Allow to cool before using.

Indian condensed milk

  1. Heat the milk in a heavy-based saucepan. Do not let it burn.
  2. Add sugar and baking soda to the hot milk. Stir in well.
  3. Keep stirring until the milk thickens. Stir at least once a minute, if not more often.
  4. When the milk thickens, keep stirring. This will help it to thicken even more.
  5. Once the consistency is very thick, the condensed milk is ready. Remove it from the heat.
  6. Let the condensed milk stand aside for an hour to cool. Then transfer to an airtight container for refrigeration or use immediately.
