How to Make Mad Eye Martini Jello Shots

"Mad Eye Moody" is a fictitious character in the Harry Potter series. He's particularly renowned for his "shifty" magical eye that had its own powers, such as seeing things at the back of his head and through objects. You can recreate an artwork of an "eye" using a lychee garnish for this vivid blue drink for any occasion, and it's especially suitable to serve for Halloween.

Makes 16 shot cups.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 mL) boiling water

  • 1 envelope of Knox gelatin

  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) cold water

  • 3/4 cup (180 mL) flavored vodka, of your choice

Eyeball garnish

  • 1 can lychee in syrup, drained

  • 1/4 teaspoon cherry, raspberry, or strawberry preserves

  • 1 blueberry

Steps

Making the eyeball

  1. Pat the lychee dry with paper towels.

  2. Use a small teaspoon to fill each lychee with preserves.

  3. Insert the blueberry inside the lychee. You'll want the blossom facing out so it resembles the pupil of an eye.

Making the drink

  1. Dissolve the gelatin into the boiling water in a large bowl.

  2. Measure and pour the vodka and cold water into the bowl. Thoroughly stir until well mixed. Allow the mixture to cool a little.

  3. Add a lychee eyeball to each shot cup.

  4. Carefully pour the Jello mixture over the eyeballs.

  5. Chill in the refrigerator to allow the mixture to fully set and harden.

  6. Finished.

Things You'll Need
